Fun Neon Jelly Bracelets
Jelly bracelets are amongst my favorite accessories from the 80's. I had A LOT of them and I wore mine all the time.

There are over 200 pieces in this set of bracelets, and they come in a variety of fun neon colors. You can wear them, give them as gifts, and even make them into a jump rope (I did that once!)

These bracelets were one of the reasons why the 80's were so fun! You know what? People still wear them now and not just for nostalgia. I know you'll enjoy them as much as I do!

I wasn't in high school in the 80's, which means that I was especially fascinated with movies that featured high school. As a middle schooler, I used those movies as a way to help me research what life would be like once I became a 9th grader.

Of course, I didn't realize it was an idealized version of what high school really was like. I watched these movies over and they're still amongst my favorites.

Breakfast Club

It was clear that the group didn't like each other when detention first began. It was so fun watching all that change. Things were silly, angry, and often very emotional. It was fun watching the unlikely friendships form right in front of our eyes.

Sixteen Candles

Who didn't dream of being with the popular senior in high school? Actually, I am not sure I did, but watching a crush turn into a serious romance was, for me, the ultimate high school experience. After all, shouldn't your sixteenth birthday be extra special?

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

More a dance movie than a high school one, this flick had it all - friendship, romance, dancing, and following your dreams. She lived her dream of becoming a dancer, and she even got the guy in the end!

Pretty in Pink

It was so fun watching Molly Ringwald play a girl who eventually got the guy she wanted - but what I really loved in this film were the clothes - and my heart ached for Duckie, who most certainly didn't get the girl. It was High School at its best!

Footloose

Frankly, I found the chip on his shoulder to be a little annoying, but I do love how he single handedly changed people's minds in the town about dancing. I still can't figure out why they decided dancing was bad in the first place, but all the dance scenes in this flick were memorable and entertaining.

I've watched all of these movies more than five times, and I am not done yet! I always watch them when I need something to make me smile.

One of the things I enjoyed most about the 80's were the cartoons. I would watch them faithfully in Saturday mornings (do kids still do that?), after school, and in the mornings. Here's a list of some of my favorites:

Jem and the Holograms

Because of this cartoon, I started writing my own music. I don't know where my original tunes went, but I'm guessing they weren't bad. I loved everything about this cartoon - the fashions, the music, the story. The recently released movie didn't do the franchise justice!

Thundercats

This was another one of my favorites. Cartoon Network showed it while I was in college and watching it was one of my favorite study breaks. I loved the idea that there were alien cats out there, fighting for justice.

She-Ra

I love the cartoons that feature strong female characters.  I love the idea that this princess has super human strength and saves the day!

What are your favorite cartoons from the 80's? I know there are a ton I missed, but I consider these to be the best of the best.

Classic 8os Wayfarer Sunglasses
These Wayfarer sunglasses are nostalgic while still being fashionable.

I had so many of these when I was a kid, and most of them were in neon colors!

I wouldn't wear those colors now, but I would certainly wear these!
More than just a vintage pair of sunglasses, they're actually back in style.

As mentioned in my last post, scrunchies made me thankful to grow up in the 80's. Actually, they were popular in the late 80's into the mid 90's. In high school if I wasn't wearing my hair down, I would either put my hair up into a ponytail or a messy bun using a scrunchy.

I always had one on hand just in case I needed to wear it. Shortly before I went to college in 1997, I stopped wearing scrunchies almost cold turkey. I miss them, though, and think I may revisit them.

In this video I am about to share, the girl put her hair up in multiple ways using this fun hair tool. I've tried all of them but my all time favorites are still the high ponytail and the messy bun. But these are all fun! Here's the video:
