5 Reasons Why I Loved Being a Kid in the 80's

I was born in 1977, which meant that I passed a full decade of my childhood in the 80's. Kids are different today than they were back then.

I don't necessarily think that childhood is a bad thing today. But I am so thankful that I grew up in the 80's.

Here are 5 of the reasons why I loved growing up in this decade:

Scrunchies

Although I've abandoned scrunchies long ago, I do miss them! Since my hair is thick, they really kept my hair secure and in place. They were bright and colorful and made the end of my ponytail swing in a fun way. Hair just isn't the same without them.

Leg Warmers

Okay, I still wear leg warmers - but it's only because they came back in style. My only pair are navy blue and believe me, when I went to Oslo, Norway in the winter, I was thankful that I had an extra layer of fabric to keep my legs warm!

MTV

I tried watching MTV the other day and I got stuck watching a goofy reality/comedy show. Where did all the music videos go? I guess I'll need to watch them on Youtube from now on!

Walkman

Raise your hands if you had a walkman? I used to play my Bon Jovi and Aerosmith tapes in those, and I thought I was cool. I was cool, dammit, because I had a Walkman!

Music

80's Hair Metal remains my all time favorite musical genre. In fact, Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet tape is the first piece of music I bought with my own money. My collection grew, and I loved playing the tapes in my Walkman!

Of course, I can think of a million other things I loved about the 80's, but these are just a few things that top my list. What do you love about the 80's?
